Rishi Sunak, the current UK Prime Minster, apparently, yesterday announced that, by the end of the year, the American XL Bully Breed will be banned. First, they need to define the breed, because it is actually a mongrol mix of many different types of dogs, with the main part being the already banned Pitbull breed.
My first knee-jerk reaction was in total agreement with the ban, and I think it still is this same opinion tbh. Although, after listening to an interview by a responsible American XL Bully owner, his logic was undeniable, that it is the human holding the lead who is causing the problems.
Here is the interview here:
There have been A LOT of dog attacks in the UK, a lot of them fatal. Just a couple of days ago, a man was mauled to death by two XL Bully’s, who had ran into his Gran’s garden and mauled him so badly, he lay unconscious in just his boxer shorts, despite a few men spending 20 mins hitting the dogs to get them off him.
In my opinion, as much as I don’t want to demonise an animal, however, I think the sheer strength of an animal like that, should not be roaming the streets. A predator’s instinct is to kill, and nothing will change that, but human’s need the upper hand. For eg, if a poodle went to attack me, I will win that fight, but if a XL went to attack me, I would lose.
All these XL Bully owner’s coming out and complaining on social media, and posting photos of their beloved XL dogs sitting next to their small children and looking very loved and gentle - I understand they love their dogs. But they need to understand, that sentimental value is all very well and good, and even that man on the interview is right, it is the owner’s responsibility too, but nevertheless, there will always be an irresponsible owner that exists, or a dog who steps out of line every once in a while, and when that moment happens, the odds should always be in the human’s favour to win. Therefore, I completely agree that all dogs that are aggressive by history of breed or however you define it, should be banned.
I personally have seen a few XL Bully’s recently in my town. One man was drunk and his dog was not on a lead. He was walking past my living room window. The dog was perfectly well behaved and calmly, loyally, walking next to him. But still, not on a lead and its owner was drunk. Another, I saw an old friend and I said hi but crossed the road and said I can’t stop to talk. His dog was on a lead and well behaved, but I was not going up to a XL Bully.
I’m thinking of what type of weapon I will need tbh. I don’t want to start carrying a knife, but I am currently thinking of a ‘game plan’ that I can have, so if a dog attacks me, I can just kill it.
This is coming from a Vegan but I’m not an overly sentimental Vegan, like those stupid dog owner’s who love their dogs. I just see the reality of the danger.
I will update if I think up a game plan. I know that, just like sharks, your best bet is to act as alpha as you can basically (eye contact, body language etc) you would need to kick your leg out, shout really loud and ***** it down. But let’s be real, grown men are being mauled to death here. You’re lucky if you get a chance to show a dog you’re the alpha before it attacks you. Jumping up on a car to create distance via height is a good idea, but that’s circumstantial. I’ve seen videos of grown men running away from XL bully’s and a grown man falling and losing his balance. I would not stand a chance. I need a game plan and a weapon.
I know this sounds fearful, and it is. I’m genuinely scared.
I will update if my views change on this because I don’t want to demonise one breed of dog, and I’m not, I’m saying any animal that is aggressive by breed and stronger than a human, should not be a pet. I feel sorry for the dog’s who are those type of breed but are by nature non-aggressive, it’s not their fault they’re stronger than me. But the reality is, they are, and that’s enough reason why they should not be allowed to be bred into existence.
PETA, and other pet organisations, are disagreeing with the banned dog breed legislation, by saying it does not solve the problem or stop dog attacks, and fair enough, but I still want to put my foot down and say, I do not want any animal that is stronger than me walking in my space.
It is the human’s fault for breeding animal’s to fit their requirements in the first place - from cow’s that produce more meat and milk, to chickens that are over-fed and over-bred to the point they cannot stand up straight. Even my two Ragdoll cats who have been bred to be as placid as possible, to the point my dear old cat Teddy is difficult to look after. I love him very much btw.
Human’s playing God, it is human’s fault! But what now! I do not want to be in danger.
You know, sometimes I really dislike the human race just by the sheer arrogance and stupidity of us. The world is a difficult place to survive because people are so ignorant and stupid. I bloody hate the human as a race. The world is a hard place to survive BECAUSE OF US AND WE ARE A STUPID RACE.
HUMAN’S ARE ******* STUPID MORON’S I DONT WANT TO BE HERE.
