I was informed by an astrologer that past life Karmas are only impacted (good/bad) only at the age of 42. Once you reach that age you are not impacted by past life deeds. I am not sure if that's true or if there's more to it but that's an interesting statement and I never heard that before.
Any thoughts?

Surendra
My understanding is that while past life karma isn’t solely represented by Ketu, it is majorly represented by Ketu. With that said…
In my professional understanding of astrology, within a Draconic astrology context (this may be true for Vedic as well and I seem to recall some Vedic astrologers telling me this), it is thought that Ketu’s power over your chart generally begins to wane (but never completely dissipates, only becomes less dominant) after the age of 30, and that at the age of 30, the urge to face the challenges and blessings of Rahu start to become more dominant, but do not completely erase the impact of Ketu. If not the age of 30, then generally after you’ve completed your first Saturn return, which is near the late 20s and early 30s anyway.
Even then, there are some exceptions to this, for example, someone who has Ketu conjunct Venus, Moon, Sun, or Ascendant may be very heavily impacted by past life karma for their whole life, perhaps more than other people.
The lunar nodes return to the same position of the zodiac once every 18.5 years approximately. So Ketu will be in the same sign as your birth at age 37, then again at age 55, and once more at age 74, and 92 if you live that long.
I’m not sure why specifically the age 42 would be significant, but I am still learning Vedic astrology and I would be interested in hearing if anyone has a specific explanation for that.
I would imagine that somewhere near the ages of 36 or 48 (about the time of your 3rd and 4th Jupiter returns), or the age of 58 (around the time of your 2nd Saturn return), would be more significant time periods for clearing out a lot of past life karma, though perhaps not all. If we cleared absolutely all karma, that would be obtaining moksha, which I don’t think is guaranteed by an age. Rather, if I understand correctly, we are provided opportunities during certain transits that, if we take the right action, we can clear a lot of karma and help ourselves on the path towards moksha.
I don’t see how a person who hasn’t obtained moksha would discontinue being impacted by past life karma because they turned 42. That seems unlikely to me, I think past life karma impacts us our whole lives, but maybe somewhat less dominant as we get older for most of us if we’re taking advantage of the time we’ve been given to clear our some of our karma with right deeds, allowing us the opportunity to start working on creating / clearing our next life’s karma based on our current life’s deeds, after we’ve dealt with much of our past life karma with right deeds in this life.
If I’m understanding correctly.
But, if there’s a reason I’m not seeing why the age 42 is significant, I’m definitely interested in understanding why, as I know there are people much more well versed in Vedic than I am here.
