Combust - A planet that forms a conjunction with the Sun within orb of between 31' to 3° is said to be combust. The energy of a combust planet is integrated with that of the Sun in such a way that the planet does not operate independently.
Cazimi - Arabic term meaning, "in the heart of the Sun". Technically, this means that a planet has to be either directly in front of the Sun's disk or behind it, by plus/minus 15' arc. A very rare condition, and a powerful dignity according to arab sources.
The *via combusta* is a part of the zodiac 15 deg Libra to 15 deg scorpio where the moon especially is adversely affected (in horary astrology especially).

and im guessing that :"via combusta" in horay is not a auspicious aspect generally with another planet it touches?

and the via combusta is not a good place to be! If the asc. in a horary is in the via combusta I'd say the querent was not in a good state at all. Apparently its not a part of the sky that welcomes any planet, especially the moon. I dont know the reason for this though. Maybe someone *out there* can help us with that?

Yes, it is any planet within 15 Libra to 15 Scorpio. The reason why the Via Combusta is believed to be a particularly malefic area of the zodiac is because these degrees of Libra and Scorpio are in the terms of the two malefic planets, Mars and Saturn.
In an horary chart, the Ascendant lying in the Via Combusta may mean that the querent has second motives about the question he asks.
In questions about communications, Mercury in the Via Combusta means that one of the parties may be lying. As for the Moon, being in the Via Combusta is one of the major debilities. A Moon in the VC is unable to act, indicates ineffectual actions, indecisiveness etc.

If I am reading this thread right (and I may well not be) there appears to be some confusion between combust and via combusta, since they are not the same thing: they are not in fact remotely related.
Combust (please correct me if I am wrong) refers to a planet that is in tight conjuction to the Sun, where it is scorched; this basically refers to a planet (typically Mercury) that is lost in the Sun's influence; these people have difficulty separating the planetary power from their ego-expression. With Mercury it can indicate someone who talks through their ego. A very tight Mercury Sun conjunction though is often indicative of unusual intelligence, if less than half a degree.
Via Combusta is as previously noted a range of between 15 Libra and Scorpio, although it should be noted that it is technically 25 Libra to 6 Scorpio and if the Sun or Moon is found in this scope it is considered particularly unfortunate because of the influence of Saturn by exaltation in Libra where the Sun finds its fall and the influence of Mars' effect in Scorpio and the Moons' fall there.
Ths via combusta period each month is said to be particularly conducive to black magic, and on those years where the Sun falls in the last five degrees of Libra while the Moon simultaneously finds itself in the first five degrees of Scorpio there is much dark lore. Some claim that the antichrist will have this exact configuration in their birth chart.
I have Sun in Libra and Moon in Scorpio myself, but my Sun is at 12.18 Libra and Moon is at 15.37 Scorpio, so I think I just got away with it

no, unfortunately I do not. But - as a rule of thumb - planets tend to show their worst qualities when they are in the Via Combusta. So the Moon - which in horary charts indicates the sequence of events - will be unable to act. Mercury will indicate lies. Venus - excessive eating and drinking, sexual misconduct. Mars - violence and so on

Hi,
Look Ive read combustion goes from 3 degrees to 8 degrees, and that cazimi is up till 3.
Can someone else throw their ideas out about this please?
