How close of an orb should I be looking for when determining whether a solar or lunar eclipse will form an aspect with and have an impact on one or more of the planets and/or angles in my natal chart? The reason why I ask is because while I already know that the recent eclipse formed an exact sextile with my stellium -- Sun, Venus, and Mars all at 29 degrees Gemini -- it appears to have the potential power to light up several other parts of my chart depending on how close the orb needs to be in order to count.

The transiting Sun at Aries 29 forms an exact sextile with my natal Sun at 29 Gemini, a potential conjunction with my natal Moon at 5 Taurus, a close sextile with my natal Mercury at 26 Gemini, an exact sextile with my natal Venus at 29 Gemini, an exact sextile with my natal Mars at 29 Gemini, a close trine with my natal Jupiter out of sign at 0 Virgo, a potential conjunction with my natal Saturn at 25 Aries, and a close inconjunct with my Ascendant at 0 Sagittarius. (No wonder this eclipse feels as if it has shaken me up emotionally.)

Hello :geek:

The question is about orbs, there will be many opinions

Based on personal experience, in the natal chart, I use:

-Orb less than 10 degrees for conjunctions, oppositions (less than 5 degrees in synastry)

-Orb less than 5 or 10 degrees for squares (depending on how I feel) (less than 3 degrees in synastry)

-Orb less than 5 or 6 degrees for trines (less than 3 degrees in synastry)

-Orb less than 4 degrees for sextiles (less than 2 degrees in synastry)

-Other aspects I am unsure about! ;)

Hi Gemini,:)
Since we are talking about eclipses, the tighter the orbit, the more probable to effect your chart. In the books I have read and according to my experience, the maximum orbit is up to 3.5 degrees orb for conjunction and opposition of the eclipse degree to a natal planet and a degree for a square. The rest of the aspects are not used-eg the sextile that you are refering here and trine-
Eclipses falling on your Sun/Moon/angle are strongly felt. Maybe in other personal planets eg Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter. Eclipses only trigger events, they are just more powerful Lunations. UNLESS you are currently under a major transit by an outer-Pluto/Uranus/Neptune/Saturn-hitting by conjunction/opposition/square a natal placement, like the ones I named before, the eclipse effect will come to go with no event triggered.

Another way to see if something is triggered in your chart, is look at which house it falls eg 3rd house. So in that case, you might experience an event related to 3rd house significations-communication, traveling, learning, siblings-

Eclipses have changed my life, when my natal was triggered. Of course, I was under harsh transits by outers, aspecting my IC/Sun by conjunction. The conjunction is the strongest aspect. They can trigger both positive and negative events, according to your natal and transits you get at the time.

I've watched this video a couple of times and it does NOT give much information on how to use or judge eclipses. The experience various people give is anecdotal and not precise enough to learn from.

the astrological significance of solar and lunar eclipses
- what they mean symbolically in astrology.
- as well as how to determine what specific eclipses will mean for individuals
based on which of the 12 houses they fall in in your birth chart.
- with examples from the audience :)
- audience members shared stories about how past eclipses have worked out in their lives,
which helped to clarify how eclipses work in a very practical way.
- in particular on how eclipses come in pairs, and highlight a specific axis of houses for about two years.

For example, the 1st house/7th house axis, or the 2nd house/8th house axis, and so on.
