Hello, I can't understand which planet I should look at for questions about third parties. Does the ASC represent the person asking the question or the third party? Should I look at the tripartite rulership of the ASC or the 11th house, which is the 5th house of the 7th house? For example, the question below is "Does my ex talk to person Y?". Which planet would you take as person Y?

Reception would indicate if there is a third person, or if any of his planets are in close conjunction with another. However I am assuming this is the same ex as the other charts - Horary does not allow for the multiple charts unless the question is significantly different. Please refer to the first chart in question. It may be easier to take a break from horary all together until you have healed from this breakup.

I am taking horary education but the teacher did not explain this subject. When a question comes like this, I do not know where to look. The questions are not always my questions.

If the questions are not always your questions then you must specify as that may require a turning of the chart. Context is needed when posting questions.

It really depends who the third party is. Generally I would look and see which house is symbolized by that type of person (friend, parent, supervisor, &c.). The planet ruling the sign on that house cusp would be the 3rd party's significator. Or sometimes you would use a planet as the ruler: the surgeon is Mars, the professor is Jupiter, the "other woman" is probably Venus. But it gets tricky if you end up with the same significator for two different people.

In your example, merely "talking to" another person doesn't sound significant. So you might use the 5th house (of flirting and casual love affairs) from the 7th house (of your ex,) or radix 11th house. It is ruled by the sun. Mars (him) is past its last aspect to the sun, so I wouldn't think he's chatting her up successfully.

Thank you, I thought the same as you. But is the 5th house used when asking about a specific person? The people we date are viewed from the 7th house. The 7th House of the 7th House becomes the asc. I am confused about this issue.

The 5th house could be used for a casual love interest, but not for an actual, hoped-for, or previous committed relationship.

Then you might wish to turn the houses. For example, if someone asks, is my partner cheating on me? Then we could look at the turned 5th from the 7th, or radix 11th house. The turned 12th house (radix 6th) is interesting, because it can indicate deception by the partner.
