Other outer planets like Uranus & Pluto plays a part too but I didn’t include them here because it’d be too much to put in so hence I’m just going to be talking about Neptune on this post. Neptune shows what the general public is obsessed with.

Neptune in Scorpio (1956-1971): Scorpio is all about transformation. This period of music and culture saw a big transformation/change starting with Elvis Presley breaking into music in 1956 with Rock N Roll and continued with The Beatles in the 1960s + the Counter-culture movement. Attitudes towards sex, fashion, drugs & music changed highly. This era was seen as controversial because so many things were changing and pop culture gave more importance to the youth. Era of Hippies, Psychedelics, & Civil Rights Movement. Could also explain the rise of cults in the 60s.

Neptune in Sagittarius (1971-1984): Cocaine, New Wave, Disco, Synth, Funk, MTV, Big Hair, Flared pants. The 70’s also had a lot of men openly expressing their chest hair, I think it’s a very Neptune in Sagittarius look + the staches.

Neptune in Capricorn (1984-1998): RnB, Hip-Hop, Grunge, Hair Metal, Adult Contemporary Ballads, Heroin Chic, Yuppies & Wall street boom, Alternative music

Neptune in Aquarius (1998-2012): Teen-pop, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Boy bands: Backstreet Boys & NSYNC, Trance, Autotune, Y2K, Paris Hilton, Tacky eccentric 2000s fashion, Electronic music, Euro-pop, Early Internet Forums, Birth of Social Media, Flip phones, MySpace

Neptune in Pisces (2012-2025): Alternative-pop artists like Lorde & Lana Del Rey, Streaming services, Binge-watching, Nostalgia baits, Sad music, Social media addiction, Retro style becoming popular, Doomsday/Apocalyptic feel. You can blame Neptune in Pisces for the unnecessary reboots and throwbacks of past decades. Neptune rules Nostalgia and being domicile in Pisces doesn’t help and the obsession with nostalgia is out of control. Neptune in Pisces also popularized taking care of mental health, therapy & meditation.

Neptune in Aries (2025-2039) Pop culture and music is going to highly change next year. Expect more Aries themes to pop up in music and fashion. Bold, Energetic, Dance, Upbeat, Aggressive & Empowering music will be back. Fashion could be leaning towards flamboyance, colorful, daring & masculine.

I also lowkey think more people will start to use drugs for pleasure with Neptune in Aries because Neptune in Sagittarius in the 70s/80s saw the rise and excess use of Cocaine. Neptune being in a fire sign shows more energy.

Neptune in Leo in the 1920s also brought the rise of Jazz music and the ‘Roaring Twenties’ & Flappers

I believe you are correct. Speaking as a neptune cazimi native (pisces south node) with 3 kids, one of whom has a close Moon-Neptune conjunction in Pisces, the above description sounds substantially authentic, if not the WHOLE story. Neptune feels like the water zeitgeist planet, hence:

  • sensitivity
  • compassion
  • nostalgia
  • attempt to know the mind of god or merge with divine intent (sometimes catastrophically as through drugs)
  • exaggerated susceptibility to attempts to define or control the zeitgeist (by social or mainstream media, diagnoses, environmental toxins including pseudoestrogens, control of mindspace generally).

Not sure about "reboots and throwbacks to past decades" being ascribable to Neptune in Pisces as cycles do repeat.

Neptune in Aries drug profile is interesting. I hope we are looking at "limiting pseudoestrogens in the environment" in order to rebalance testosterone, and NOT at, for example, drugs to promote war. Amphetamines were passed out to American soldiers in the 1960s.

Nostalgia cycles do happen every decade but they have been excessively happening since 2012. There has been more sampling going around in music and so so many unnecessary reboots of originals that should have never been touched.

Oh! Sampling is the basis of, like, all of hip hop. It is like intertextuality in literature. That has been going on since the late 1970s and early 1980s. Before that, mainstream pop musicians were also picking up and reworking the music of others. Elvis Presley is a real prominent case in point, but many others -- musicians learn from, hear and respond to each other constantly with respect, and also snatch up and re-offer with less respect. I do know what you're talking about though. The people who dominate industry have become overly greedy and more algorithmic (if that's possible -- the corporate dimension of music is really large!) and things start to sound really repetitive. Kinda wonder if that has to do with streaming and always-on, always personalizable music both listening and production, and hyperanalysis and segmentation in marketing.
