Personally I keep the fixed stars to the mundane, but then we all have our own ways of doing things. If a natal chart gives so many indications I will always take note; just as with others suggestions.

I use them always. But I also look at all the aspects to them, not just the conjunction. But, I use a tight orb with them all. Two degrees usually, rare exceptions.

My understanding is fixed stars were always used for issues that have long duration. I noticed that after one of the fires some sort of committee was formed to assess environmental impacts of so many sinkings in the area. Maybe this is the positive side of Fomalhaut.
