Grizzly Attack Banff National Park

Why? That's what bears do. It was business, not personal. 8th only shows how people die, not why or when. To know that you look at the 8th place from Fortune. Pluto the peace-maker who didn't enter Cancer in 1914 and has nothing to do with WW I has nothing to do with anything.

And people laugh when traditional indicators show death by animal. 3-4 dozen people in the US are killed by dogs every year.
Why what?

Most bear encounters amount to nothing. Most bear encounters are not deadly.
As stated, this particular female was old, sickly, underweight and aggressive. She was desperate, and probably aware that her situation was dire. Probably would not have survived the winter.

She attacked 2 people that were in their tent, with their dog, with food properly stored. The actions of this bear were not usual bear activity. I have lived in Northern Canada most of my life, and have had countless close encounters with bears and other predators with no issues.

This occurred in a Banff National Park, it is the job of the staff, to ensure reasonable safety for the patrons of the park. Not to allow an aggressive, sickly animal to prey on its patrons.

Mundane astrology I have noticed is quite accurate watching the houses as the planets enter and exit them.

As the attack started shortly before 8:00pm, with the distress call going out at 8:15pm, and knowing the nature of the bear, I was looking at the charts provided in the first post, that show the incident occurring, but nothing in the 8th till 9:10pm, makes me think they lived till later.

You can see the activity in the 12th. But nothing in the 8th.

This isn’t about WW1. Or 1914.

Quite :)

Dire predictions by Valens et al :)

BUT to be realistic, '..dire..' events do occur from time to time - just reading the news media confirms that fact!

Sensational events do occur though! As evidenced by news reports

Lion killed volunteer at California big cat sanctuary after the worker climbed into the animals cage.

Investigators are trying to find out why the woman was inside the enclosure
and what might have provoked the attack.

Nicole Paquette, vice president of Humane Society of United States, animal welfare charity, said:

"..She should have never been in the enclosure with him.
These are big cats that are extremely dangerous.."

That certainly seems a possibility in antiquity

However, evidence regarding the 20th and 21st Centuries is easier to confirm

2012 - according to Big Cat Rescue Sanctuary in Tampa, Florida
at least 21 people, including five children,
have been killed
and
246 mauled by exotic cats in the US since 1990.

Over that period, 254 cats escaped and 143 were killed.

Beheading is a not unusual occurrence even in today's '..civilized world..'!

- Mexico for example is frequently in the news
regarding drug-cartel related beheading
Unfortunately murders where the victim is beheaded have occurred worldwide
- including US

I understand the spike, humans are encroaching on their land, and chasing them around for selfies. Normally we don’t try to pet them, but a lot of inexperienced people are not acting normal with them.

This attack was abnormal, a normal bear would have walked on by, a desperate bear did what she needed to try to survive.

Thanks for Waybread’s information. I like her have death by aggression in my natal. Mars 8th, square Sun within a degree.
Timothy Treadwell

He was a filmmaker and bear enthusiast. Spent much time with bears. One year he and his girlfriend got get killed by a bear. There is a birthtime and time of death for him.

I am aware of this, but I haven’t looked at the astrology, thanks for the data. I will check it out astrologically to see if there are similar markers.

I do agree, humans take big (and dumb) chances going into their territory, their homes to camp out, cook-out and leave all manner of smells and sometimes interact with the animals which is not something we should do. My neighbors ALL do this, even with their young children and grandchildren in the woods where there are wild animals, bears & mountain lions in some instances depending on which campgrounds or mountains.

When you live in the wilderness, you are usually prepared.

Going out for a hike with bear spray, is not the best idea, but living there and hiking there is different. The spray in the panic of the moment, people usually aren’t thinking of if there is a wind, and if they are going to be blinded by the spray. Could end up spraying yourself and not the animal.

I would not want to discourage your neighbours though, not going to the wilderness, would be sad. Being aware, and as safe as you can be is fun. Not going anywhere without light pollution to view the night skies.

Saw a guy on his way to the hospital today, looked like a pedestrian got hit by a car, but we still cross the street.

We weren’t allowed to go alone in the wilderness until we were old enough to carry a rifle, or berry picking, bears pick berries too.

Opal: I always use on default setting, the 3 Moira - They come in with us at birth according to Plato and leave with us at death (should see them in transits then accompanying us)
I wrote and dedicated a book about them too on Kindle.
Some depict the 3 sisters as old and scary, some depict them as young and lovely.

The Moirai, or Fates, were three goddesses of destiny in ancient Greek religion. Their duty was to preserve the natural order of life and death. To do this, the three sisters controlled the threads of a person’s life. Clotho spun it out at birth, Lachesis measured it, and Atropos cut it at the time of death.
Hey, could you link your books, or pm me, your choice. Please!

I haven’t used them astrologically, I am finding it interesting with Mundane hoe the moment so matters. And how useful the asteroids and other entities are so useful, if you know which ones to use, for what you are looking for.

Thanks Leomoon!

Yeah, I remember this. He usually went alone. I like that there is times of the incident , I will see if there is a birth time available, or just the of the day.

Thanks again for the link.

Interesting subject, thanks Opal for posting.
I re-calculated the chart, using the 8:15pm distress signal time. This should be close to the attack time, but not the death time.
One question occurred to me, the bear is the attacker, the couple and their dog are the attacked.
So which house represents who?
The 12th is normally a large animal in horary, although this is an event chart, not horary.
The couple? Are they ascendent, protagonists, or are they victims, 7th house?
Just a consideration, I'm not decided about this but I'll just throw it on the table for thoughts.

So for the moment, I'll stay with the ascendent as the couple, their pet dog as the 6th and the bear as the 12th.
In fact, moon as activator is in the 12th, signifying the bear, and conjunct Chiron representing her dire situation of sufferance. North Node there granted her success in her endeavour.
The couple is taurus (interestingly, the sign representing food, which is what they were for the bear!), ruled by Venus in the 5th (the bear's 6th of nutrition). (Apologies for this rather distressing explanation. )
So we see Venus just squared the unexpected events brought on by Uranus in the 1st house.
Uranus co-rules the bear's 12th house... sneaking up on the victims.
The 8th ruler is Jupiter, retrograde and close to the ascendent, but not yet conjunct. So presumably death occurred later on, as described earlier in the thread, when Jupiter conjuncted ascendent.
In addition, the Part of Death is at 28 sagittarius, not yet into the 8th house.
Jupiter is also co-ruler of the bear as 12th, and she is sitting literally on top of the couple as 1st house.
The dog, ruled by 6th house mercury, in all probability began barking when it sensed the bear approaching, and might have been the first victim.
Mercury opposes Neptune, ruler of the 12th. Antagonism and misguided action on the part of the dog.
(Poor thing was only doing its job).
Very sad event.

Wow, thanks for dropping by Elena J and adding your take on this situation.

The book I am looking for is horary, and I do use it for rulerships in Mundane. Thanks for pointing out the Part of Death, I have been confused by nothing being there at 8:15. I find Mundane to be so precise by the moment, with the part of death entering at shortly after 8:15, it is now more hopeful for a speedy death not a lingering one.

I had a half coyote/black lab she had bear encounters, she was protective. Had a scar on her nose from a bear that was frequenting the area after the garbage dump changed to containers, and altered the bears eating habits. Unfortunately this time, the ailing female was desperate.

I would call the couple and their dogs victims in this case. They were in their tent, bedded down.

The upside for the bear, is that it was about to have a lingering death, in my opinion this winter. She was saved that misery, and too had a quick death.

Any idea if she had pups?
Not sure what season that normally takes place in, but could it have been one of her motivations?
Her 5th would be the radical 4th, ruled by moon, in her house (12th)!

This is a guess for the time of the Katmai Grizzly Attack. As Leomoon suggested, I have added the Fates, except Clotho, because I couldn't find it! Aha, Klotho with a K.

Below is Leomoon's chart with the fates for quick comparison.

For DC's suggestion, Treadwell's Story and chart of possible time.

Hi Elena, I know the couple would not have taken pups with them. If I am misunderstanding and you mean bear cubs, no, the bear did not have any cubs. She was old, and desperate for food to be fat enough to make it through winter hibernation.

The Alaska chart may have Chiron on the MC, and Saturn on the IC.

Both have 12th and 6th house planets.

Both may have Taurus ascending.

The Banff has a clear Kite visual, and the Alaska, almost shows a Kite.

All the human victim's were eaten. What would depict that?

Both were in the tent, when it began.

Yes, sorry for the confusion, I used the wrong term.

Both have 12th and 6th house planets.

Both may have Taurus ascending.
Also, the moon, Uranus and Venus contacts.
8th house ruler Jupiter.
very informative article, but not for the light-hearted! Gruesome.

At 9:10pm Pluto is the first Planet to enter the 8th.
Thank you for posting this chart, Opal! My heart goes out the families of those that died.

If I'm reading this correctly, then Venus was in this chart is conjunct the 5th house cusp at 22 LE 56 and thus opposing the 11th house cusp of 22 AQ 56 or thereabouts.

Over in the "Degree Symbols" forum (under "Other Astrology") we mostly talk a lot about the Sabian Symbols which were developed first by Marc Edmund Jones and Elsie Wheeler in 1925 and later popularized by Dane Rudhyar and several others.

It is interesting to note that the symbol/phrase for 22AQ is Aquarius 23 (A big bear sitting down and waving all its paws). The symbol for 22LE is Leo 23 (A bareback rider).

Very interesting Elena, thank you.

The Taurus Ascendant. In both charts, Alaska and Banff, representing the people as food.

I wasn’t expecting that.
