So 9th is travel but 7th is living abroad?
First time I see this. It makes more sense 12th is living abroad as it is the 9th from 4th. Again who wrote this? Valens?

One must examine the schemata. Stars exalted with the assemblies of domicile rulers cause good nativities and initiations. Mars, Sun and Moon trigon from each other make highly intelligent and very wealthy nativities, those who are terrors to their enemies. Ruler of I with II and ruler of II with I make those who earn wealth without much effort, for the exchanges of good domiciles are favorable. Stars ascending with their domiciles and exaltations indicate fortunate nativities. Stars pre-ascending and post-ascending the Sun and the Moon indicate distinguished nativities.

"..Stars become good whenever the houserulers are ascending,
or are post-ascending & favorably placed.

The first ruler is diurnal, the second is nocturnal, and the third is cooperating.
Changeover of the whole trigon occurs with the completion of the rising time :)
and
the recurrence years of the predominating houseruler handing over to the other ruler.

All wandering and non-wandering stars are mighty when rising from under the beams of the Sun,

but when they are setting, they lose strength..."

Good--what's your source on this, just out of curiosity?

It so happens that the rulers of my first and second houses are conjunct.

I'm a senior. Looking back, I've had times in my life with very little money, times of financial upsets, and a career in which I worked very hard for my paycheck. However, I somehow always felt that I had enough money for my purposes at these different times. To me it's not a question of wealth in an objective sense, but having a feeling of sufficiency.

Hour-Marker, the tetragon and the diameter command great powers :)

Stars are most powerful by exactly rising, culminating, setting & anti-culminating
within the ascending images.
Benefics ascending the degrees make distinguished nativities and good initiations,
but unfavorably placed malefics cause reversals and ruin.

Investigate the Sun and the Moon and the familiarity of the attendant stars.
When both Lights are with ascending masculine images, with the Lightbringer attended,
being present or exchanging rays within three degrees with the five stars,
the nativities will be royal.

And if the guardians are themselves ascending the degrees, the nativities will be world-ruling.

You got something wrong, as the Hellenistic astrologers are consistent in saying that Jupiter in a night chart is better under the horizon than above the horizon (all other factors aside, such as the exact place). The reverse happens by day. Basically the diurnal planets rejoice in the hemicycle where the Sun is, the opposite with the nocturnal (this is my explanation for their reversal). They don't say how strong is this rejoicing exactly, but it does appear to be a secondary factor compared to the primary sect condition. Only the medieval astrologers started to consider them equal.

The diurnal sect rejoices above the horizon by day, but below the horizon by night. The nocturnal sect rejoices above the horizon by night, but below the horizon by day. It can be a bit confusing at the beginning, I remember teaching someone completely new to astrology, and I eventually decided to skip all those minor considerations. It needs a bit of practice until it becomes natural, although I can see someone claiming that they are convoluted or unimportant. I consider the gender and horizon as equal considerations, each five times weaker than the primary consideration.
How confusing though...because with a nocturnal chart, yet in the southern hemisphere there are two reversals? So it's not happy being above the horizon after all?
Even more complex if Jupiter is the ruling planet of the Ascendant (Sag), and in the 9th. But retrograde.

Ostensibly then you would have to decide to weigh all the other considerations.
Nocturnal means it's ok that it's above the horizon, stronger that it's the ruling planet, stronger that it's domicile the 9th, stronger that in trine to the sun in the 5th.
But then...weaker because it's retrograde, that above the horizon and in the southern hemisphere...but in the 9th is waning?

IDK. Overall I give it strength especially with the strong aspect to the Sun, ostensibly it's being in the opposite side to the sun which is not meant to be good...but that's just a matter of weighing the chart overall. Retrograde planets are traditionally weaker.

So it won't express itself with largesse, but less obviously. I feel like this planet is coming into its own later in life as a result.

This chapter examines the theoretical frameworks and philosophies that shape ancient astrological practices in "Introduction to Hellenistic Astrology Part III - Theoretical Considerations". Hellenistic astrologers used concepts like fate and free will to interpret planetary influences and read charts.

Abu Ali and Umar al-Tabari were both active in the late 8th Century CE, so neither could be considered Hellenistic astrologers themselves, although they did translate (secondhand) some Hellenistic texts into Arabic.

Saturn, Jupiter, Sun, Mars, Venus, Moon, and Mercury describe planetary joy in astrology and some of them are day or night planets affecting nativities and harmonizing cosmos. Every planet has its own rulership, sign of exaltation, sign of depression, so the strength, aspect and fortune in the houses varies. Benefic and malefic planets, their placement in the exaltation or depression, and other aspects such as trines, sextiles and squares, determine one’s fate. Harmonious aspects are beneficial, and there can be problems when aspects are not very good. The astrologers have to read the movement, position, and aspects of the planets in order to properly understand the cosmic effect on nativities and one’s destiny.

HELLENISTIC ASTROLOGY :)

(a) Aspects are made by Sign alone
- so any planets in the same house are also in the same Sign
- WHOLE SIGN HOUSES

(b) however, a distinction is made
for planets that are within 3º orb
of an aspect

(c) the aspects are conjunction, square, opposition, trine, sextile.
Note is taken of Disjunction - ie planets 150º
apart
